Job Description

The Technician I, under general supervision, assists in planning research on support laboratory methods and techniques, carrying out procedures, and recording results for a series of closely-controlled experiments.


  • Establish and maintain a colony of the boll weevil in the laboratory

  • Conduct bioassays to evaluate the successful knockdown of genes and associated phenotypes

  • Uses computer compiling data in an organized fashion that helps expedite data analysis

  • Other job-related duties that may be assigned.

Education:Bachelor's degree in entomology, plant pathology, biology, or any related field or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment, scientific apparatus and computer equipment

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
