POSITION OVERVIEW Aspirus Wausau Hospital is seeking a Cardiopulmonary Technician II to provide quality cardiovascular diagnostic services to neonates, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, and is able to interpret patient information and understand treatment needs depending on the age of patients under care. Some general duties will include: · Performs ECGs and stress tests: exercise, Stress Echo, Stress Dobutamine, nuclear, and Persantine. · Performs Holter monitoring, pacemaker, Methacholine Challenge testing, pulmonary function, bedside spirometry, high altitude tests, 6 minute walks, Twave alternans, external enhanced counter pulsation (EECP), ambulatory blood pressure monitors, and event monitors as ordered by a credentialed physician. · Performs all exams and/or tests in accordance with department policies and procedures. · Records supplies/equipment operation log on proper log sheet and promptly reports problems. · Develops the skills to successfully start IVs. · Demonstrates flexibility and reflects the diversity and variety of the CPL Technician role that incorporates both behavior and technical components. · Interfaces and collaborates with all team members. · Documents appropriate information pertaining to the CPL exams. · Functions in a facilitator role for the exam. · Responds and actively participates in emergency situations. · Possesses and exercises good public relations and interpersonal skills. LOCATION: Wausau, Wisconsin – Aspirus Wausau Hospital SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS Our ideal candidate will possess the following skills: · If Registered Nurse, LPN or Respiratory Therapist, current Wisconsin license required. · Current CPR certification or obtained within 90 days of hire. · ACLS or acquired within one year of hire. · Use of personal computer, pulmonary function testing, Cath Lab monitoring and experience in non-invasive monitoring beneficial. · Certification by the American College of Sports Medicine as an Exercise Specialist or Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist within two years of hire desired. · Certified Cardiovascular Technician and/or Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist desired. EDUCATION Candidates should possess one or more of the following: · Knowledge of patient care standards and practices normally acquired through completion of an Associate Degree in related health sciences or equivalent. · Associate Degree in cardiovascular, cardiopulmonary, exercise physiology, or nursing, or a Bachelor's Degree in cardiovascular/cardiopulmonary sciences beneficial. · This position requires meeting the competencies of a Cardiopulmonary Technician I in cardiovascular or cardiopulmonary technology or equivalent, knowledge of routine cardiovascular pharmacological agents (indications, use and effects), and ECG interpretive skills (identification and differentiation of arrhythmia). · Completes Basic ECG class and passes with 85% or higher within one year of hire, or tests out of class.
