Job Summary

To perform duties, related to the installation, maintenance, and/or operation of equipment in natural gas facilities and to assist with the maintenance, calibration and repair of electrical, automation and measurement systems for Questar Pipeline.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with maintaining and repairing electrical, automation and measurement systems in conformance with company established energy control procedures.

  • Assist with the installation of electrical, measurement, and automation systems, electronic quality measurement devices, industrial computer/controllers, hazardous environment monitoring equipment.

  • Assist with Department of Transportation inspections at company facilities.

  • Assist with the calibration of gas measurement systems.

  • Performs maintenance on gas chromatograph and other gas quality measurement devices.

  • Maintain and operates field laterals, pipelines, measurement and related equipment.

  • Locate facilities prior to excavation and assures pipelines and facilities are protected from damage from outside forces.

  • Maintain accurate field records and reports on all equipment.

  • Communicate information to co-workers, supervisors and/or customers on current status and coverage of operational responsibilities.

  • Analyze and interprets data and takes and/or recommends appropriate actions relative to job duties.

  • Assist supervision in assuring compliance with all codes, standards, and permits that pertains to the operation and maintenance of systems and facilities.

  • Assist in project coordination to include safety, material handling and project completion from start to finish.

  • May be required to obtain and maintain medical clearance to operate DOT regulated vehicle depending on specific job duties. Will be required to become DOT operator-qualified while working in this position.

  • Will require individual travel with both on and off road conditions.

  • Will be required to work on-call, overtime, weekend and holiday work as necessary.

  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • 0 - 2 years of experience as a Field Operator or equivalent experience

  • Knowledge of and ability to use a personal laptop computer and related software that meet department needs

  • Knowledge of equipment such as compressors, dehydrators and separators

  • Knowledge of company safety procedures and practices including electrical qualification and energy control procedures

  • Knowledge of basic FERC regulations and necessary requirements

  • Knowledge of basic math

  • Knowledge of Questar Pipeline tariff sections pertaining to gas quality requirements

  • Skill in the use of electrical test equipment and hand and maintenance tools

  • Skill in the repair of electrical and automation equipment

  • Ability to develop knowledge of electrical and automation system operations and design, including automatic control systems, relay logic and station processor controller

  • Ability to calibrate various measurement equipment at a working level.

  • Ability to understand and complete written and oral instructions.

  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

  • Ability to interact with others, to communicate clear instructions and evaluate results.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Ability to see objects at close range. and to see in the distance and to determine the distance and relationship between objects.

  • Ability to hear equipment warning bells and signals.

  • Ability to lift 80 pounds.

  • Ability to respond to emergency conditions, which may include: changing flat tires, chaining up vehicle, operate jack, perform minor maintenance, and operate a two-way radio.
