RJ Corman Railroad Group Mechanic in Nicholasville, Kentucky
R. J. Corman Railroad serves all seven North American major railroads, many regional and short line railroads and dozens of industries having rail. Services include owning and operating eleven short lines, providing emergency rail services associated with derailments and natural disasters, switching, track construction, track material distribution, signal design/construction, building switching locomotives and operating a dinner train.
R.J Corman is currently seeking a Mechanic to performs basic preventative maintenance; diagnoses and resolves difficult mechanical failure of small or heavy equipment.
- Applies well-develop knowledge and skills of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic repair to a variety of small, on-rail, and heavy equipment.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose complicated mechanical failures.
- Performs preventive maintenance on equipment.
- Orders parts as necessary for repairs.
- Consults with management for large, expensive repairs.
- Maintains equipment cosmetics and cleanliness.
- Practices safe working habits.
- Ensures working conditions are safe and that proper PPE is being used as job duties require.
Specialized or Technical Knowledge, or Education and Experience: Knowledge is acquired through a combination of on-the-job training, self-study, and previous mechanical experience. May require highly technical knowledge or seek help for highly technical repairs.
Physical Requirements: Mobility to participate in frequent travel to and from the project location; agility to perform mechanical repair; lifting of up to 100 pounds in the performance of duties.
Environmental Conditions: Performs duties in multiple environments including outside construction project settings, in and around moving vehicles and equipment. Exposure to weather elements; must wear appropriate PPE required for project site. Possible highly technical problems with specialized equipment. Possible dusty/oily working conditions to complete repair.
Major or Unusual Problems: Extensive travel and requirement to stay at project sites for the duration of project.
Possible knowledge needed for specialized equipment. Must carry out responsibilities in a fast-paced, outside Construction environment. Requires efficient development and performance of processes; and requires ability to multi-task in a time sensitive environment. High visibility position requires professional demeanor in interactions with Supervisors, employees, contractors and customers. Possible highly technical problems with specialized equipment. Possible dusty/oily working conditions to complete repair.
Job Dimensions: Interfaces with all levels of employees, management, and equipment. Performs duties under general supervision with limited discretion.
