Description

Performs stationaryengineering duties required for safe operation of test facilities and equipmentusing microprocessor based control systems. Communicates with test sectionEngineers in attaining test operation parameters. Coordinates closely withTest/Project Engineers and/or Facility Operators to schedule and implementoperations and repairs. Operates and maintains facility/plant machinery, testequipment, lubrication and cooling systems, drive systems, and high pressuresystems in support of the Unitary Plan Wind Tunnel Facility. Work involveshandling of specialized test hardware. Work involves both combination of computer based operations and hands onfield maintenance and repairs using a variety of hand and power tools. Duties and responsibilities include; operatebench board, computer based control systems, hands on facility retrofits andgeneral maintenance of systems, establish safe plans of action prior toperforming work to mitigate and eliminate potential hazards, work in a crossfunctional team environment, able to read prints and facility drawings, work insupport locations to the main facility including High Pressure Air Plant,Auxiliary Pumping Plants, Model Prep Rooms, Sting Assembly Room, sand aluminumblades in Blade Shop, and Tunnel Test Sections, ability to pass physical, maintainCalifornia driver license, and operate industrial machinery. General supervisory guidance received fromSupervisor with support of Leadmen providing field direction; work underestablished policies and procedures, work within CBA workforce.

Abilityto perform work in confined spaces. Ability to install, operate, troubleshoot, and repair mechanicalsystems. Ability to learn and operateplant equipment using computer based modern control systems. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

Standard work week of40 hours. Occasional overtime during regular days and some weekends may berequired. 2nd and 3rd shift work required at times.

Must be able toidentify and mitigate work hazards. Must use safe work practices and work

safely and without injury or incident. Must work wellin a team environment and have good interpersonal skills. Must have the abilityto obtain a security clearance if required by client. Must be able toaccurately communicate ideas verbally and in writing. Must be able to obtain aNASA badge and maintain access to the workplace facility. Adhere to appropriatesafety, quality, and environmental practice, as well as business ethicspractices. Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

High school diploma,trade school related experience. Three to five years' experience in operation,installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of large mechanicalsystems.
