Position Overview

Commercial Metals Company is currently seeking an industrial maintenance mechanic to support CMC Recycling in Fort Worth, Texas. As part of the CMC team, the maintenance mechanic is responsible for continuous monitoring of all installed equipment and systems for proper operation, able to troubleshoot and identify equipment/system issue’s and implement safely predictive/preventive/corrective measures to ensure asset reliability. Interpret blueprints/schematics drawings, use hand/ power tools or special tools in support of maintaining machinery, equipment, and systems. With an uncontrolled climate this position's working conditions include exposure to heat and cold. This is an hourly position with a work schedule of Monday-Friday 8:00AM – 5:00PM, some Saturdays and overtime can be expected to accommodate business needs.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Must comply with safety procedures and regulations at all times

  • Possess specific fundamental knowledge of bearings, power transmission equipment, and hydraulics/pneumatics, and lubrication, fluid pumping

  • systems, heat transfer, welding principles, rigging, overhead cranes and mobile equipment operation in support of all facility issues

  • Effectively monitors/inspects equipment for defects. Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools

  • Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, and other measuring instruments

  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges

  • Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends

  • Informs production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques, and monitors compliance.

  • Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment

  • Constantly perform a wide range of physical activities which include pulling, reaching, bending over, climbing, and kneeling

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time

  • Other duties as assigned to support business operations

Experience and Skill Requirements

Required

  • A minimum of three (3) years of in-trade industrial heavy equipment maintenance experience

  • Ability to communicate with customers, employees, and business leaders

  • Great organizational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to multi-task

  • Basic math skills

  • Experience with welding, cutting, fabrication and equipment maintenance

  • Ability to deal with uncertainty and work with or without supervision

  • Ability to be productive by working efficiently and effectively with high energy level.

  • Must have valid drivers' license.

  • Proficient skill level utilizing Microsoft Office Suite software.

Preferred

  • Basic electrical knowledge

  • Experience with SAP software – highly desirable

  • Some College

Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience required
