Mechanical Engineer, Senior

Key Role:

Lead mechanical engineering, packaging, and integration of complex technology systems for DoD weapon systems spanning development, operation, maintenance, and testing. Prepare design specifications, analyses, and recommendations for presentation and approval. Maintain technical responsibility for planning, organizing, and conducting technical projects or phases of projects involving the design and development of new or improved product or processes. Consolidate the results of mechanical design elements for assigned projects and coordinate the efforts of drafters or designers, engineering technicians, and machine shop personnel. Conduct independent technical investigations involving the origination or modification of material, component, or process specifications and requirements. Support the development and documentation of mechanical and fluid system and thermal environment requirements to establish the system design. Contribute to supplier development, test, and production activities and direct suppliers to optimize integration and achieve program goals.

Basic Qualifications:

-7+ years of experience with mechanical engineering design and analysis

-Experience with engineering software, including SolidWorks, ANSYS, and Workbench structural analysis software, dynamic simulation analysis software, fluid dynamics tools, and CAM software, including the preparation of mechanical design and drawings

-Experience with mechanical design, including opto-mechanical engineering

-Experience with hands-on mechanical and system integration of electro-optic systems, including opto-mechanical tolerance analysis under various military environmental conditions

-Ability to quickly adapt to various tasks and types of work, applying good judgment to conduct the design and analysis process

-Active Secret clearance

-BS degree in Mechanical Engineering

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with leading and coordinating junior staff and contractors

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

-Possession of excellent presentation and technical writing skills

-MS degree in Opto-Mechanical Engineering
