General Dynamics Mission Systems Senior Production Painter in Catawba, North Carolina
HighSchool Diploma or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
Responsibilities for this Position
General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Production Painter. The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation’s fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
THIS IS A 1ST SHIFT POSITION....FOUR 10-HOUR SHIFTS....MON TO THURS
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
Sprays surfaces of manufactured products of various geometries with protective or decorative material such as paint, enamel, glaze, gel-coat, or lacquer
Prepares surfaces appropriately prior to painting
Conducts daily cleanup of equipment and work area to ensure proper work area painting environment requirements
Assists in the procurement of necessary supplies and materials
Monitors and verifies quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures
Delegates work to less experienced employees
Interacts with employees and managers across the company
General supervision and instructions given for routine work, and detailed instructions given for new activities or special assignments
Ensures proper inventory levels are maintained by completing pull sheets and utilizing lean manufacturing tools.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
General knowledge and understanding of paint specifications for required finishes
General knowledge of dry booth painting
General knowledge of proper surface preparation prior to painting
General knowledge of painting equipment used
General interpersonal skills to cooperate and work effectively with others
Ability to understand drawings, work orders and bills of material (BOMs)
Ability to evaluate work conditions and quality of work produced
Ability to work with multiple coating systems
Ability to work independently
Basic computer skills
Ability to wear personal protective equipment including respirator, gloves, shoes, goggles, face shield, and other gear as needed
THIS IS A 1ST SHIFT POSITION....FOUR 10-HOUR SHIFTS....MON TO THURSCLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
