Sprays surfaces of machines, manufactured products, or working area with protective or decorative material such as paint, enamel, glaze, gel-coat, or lacquer by performing the following duties.
HOURLY RATE DOE: $11.50 - $13.50
Loads and moves materials to work area
Applies masking tape over parts and areas that are not to be coated as necessary
Installs specified nozzles in spray guns
Fills pin holes as required to attain smooth surface.
Selects and mixes coating liquid to produce desired color.
Pours coating liquid into spray container and connects gun to air hose.
Turns sprayer valves and nozzle to regulate width and pressure of spray
Pulls trigger and directs spray onto work surface to apply prime or finish coat.
Coats areas inaccessible to hand sprayer with necessary tools
Cleans spraying equipment with solvent and replaces screens and filters

Preferred Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of applying adhesives, primers and topcoats with HVLP spray equipment
Familiar with mix ratios and capable of understanding and following process specifications
Able to read aerospace blueprints and specifications
Problem solving attributes
Ability to work in fast-paced moving line/ batch process environment (works with one-piece flow)
Education and/or Experience
One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to precarious places and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate requiring hearing protection in certain areas. PPE is provided by AIM based on the employee’s position and exposure.
